Dear
members
Time really does fly. Before we know it, we
are moving into the second quarter of the year, with lots more good things
to look forward to. In January, our wedding workshop, An Exclusive Affair,
was very well received. About-to-be-wed couples enjoyed the makeup
demonstration and fashion show, with tips from expert stylist Steve Thio. Most of all, these couples had a first-hand taste
of what China Club Singapore can do for them on their special day, not
forgetting a special wedding banquet menu which you won’t see anywhere else
in Singapore. Brides could also imagine how beautiful they would look
against the Oriental backdrop of our Club – see the lovely model on the
Contents page. So keep a lookout for our other workshops, not necessarily
just wedding shows.
Coming up in the next three months are special events,
starting with our Health for Wealth month in April. For that special month,
Executive Chef Yim will create a menu filled with
nutritious soups. Do check out our special Mushroom Menu – delight without
guilt. We also plan special health talks and workshops for our members.
Details will be announced to members later, so stay tuned.
In April, we also have Secretary’s Week from 22
to 27 April. I had a taste of the dishes and I am quite sure bosses will
enjoy them too. It’s available only at lunch and will be a wonderful way to
applaud our secretaries for their hard work through the years.
In May, we have Mother’s Day. Chef Yim has come up with seven exquisite dishes, many
healthy, in our set menu. As we know
how busy you are, we have stretched this special occasion from 6 to 12 May,
with the menu available for both lunch and dinner.
Not forgetting fathers, we have a Father's Day
Set Menu with our popular Braised ‘Mee Pok’ with Ginger and Spring Onion in Shrimp Roe Sauce
to be accompanied by Stewed Wagyu Oxtails with
Homemade Tomato Sauce. This is happening from 10 to 16 June, and like
Mother's Day, it will be available for both lunch and dinner.
As most of us are aware, the Dumpling Festival,
also known as Dragon Boat Festival, and in Chinese
Duanwu because it falls on the fifth day of the
fifth month, is a very important festival on the Chinese lunar calendar.
Besides the significance of this festival demonstrating patriotism,
steadfastness and loyalty, there’s also the delicious dumpling (zongzi) to look forward to. We have added some modern
touches like abalone to this traditional treat – not to be missed!
As always, I thank members for your continuous
support for our takeaways and also for your presence at the Club. See you
soon!
Don’t forget to place your order for our special
dumplings, or zongzi, from 2 May to 12 June. Call
